THE MURDER OF KAYLA PANDY
The most recent tragedy in our nation places it’s mark in the long list of the many killings in our nation and to us it is another one of our Belizean family that has been taken away from us and a family robbed of their loved one.
The Belize People’s Front calls on the Government of Belize to start putting real plans in motion to stop violence like this from happening, we need serious legislation and even more serious investment in our law enforcement and judiciary sectors and full investment in a proper state of the art Forensic Laboratory to cover the most common crimes in Belize to start with.
We ask the police force to follow proper forensic protocols as they progress in the investigation, to be swift and thorough but to maintain extreme caution as they gather evidence and conduct investigations with suspects and possible witnesses.
Via this medium, we would like to extend a request for assistance to the US Embassy to make available the opportunity for our investigators to use a forensic laboratory in the US to process the evidence gathered and also to provide a fully qualified crime investigator in cases like these where Belize does not readily have the manpower or equipment needed. This request is so that our Police and Judiciary can truly start to properly investigate, charge and prosecute convicted criminals.
At this time we would also like to extend a reminder to the Government of Belize that as has been seen recently, when it comes to the lives of our children; the Belizean public does not take too kindly to non action and that the patience of our fellow Belizeans is wearing thin.
